_______________
I really appreciate you setting up the Sultana trip for the fifth grade I learned quite a
l ot from that great trip. I got to do fun activities such as driving the boat, kissing fish an more. One thing I learned about is the ship itself,
like what happened during its life, its sails, what it would do in the British Navy and much more.
Another fact I learned is about the bay and the life it contains. I learned how some fish protect themselves and about fish like hogchoker and how it got its name.
Lastly, I learned about the crew and their life on board the Sultana. Like what jobs they would have, what they would eat, how they would have slept, what punishments they would get and more.
In conclusion, thank you for the once in a life time trip to the Schooner Sultana. As you can see, I learned alot about the bay and the Sultana. Thank you!!
_______________
Thank you for organizing this trip for the fifth graders to go abord the Sultana. I had a lot of fun and learned many new things. For instance, the Sultana was an important part in the
Revolutionary War. When the colonists traded with other countries, the ship made sure that nobody was carrying illegal goods. The historical period was a hard time, because the colonies were being controlled by England. Also, the crew members who lived on the Sultana
back in the 1700s had a hard life on the ship because they had limited food supply, and had
difficult jobs while aboard. Some people had to steer the boat and other people had to raise the sails. Also, to get ready for our trip, we did many packets and I learned a lot about the bay from them. But the crew on the Sultana taught us about the fish and how they live in the
bay. As you can see, Mr. Smigiel, the Sultana trip was a very fun trip, and an interesting learning experience.

I want to thank you for taking us on the Sultana. It was a great learning experience for my class and we also had fun. We learned things like how to steer a ship, why hogchokers are called
hogchokers, what a poop deck is named for, and what games they played and medical tools they used in the late 1700s. We also learned a new song. As you can see my class I learned alot from this trip.
_______________
Thank you for setting up the Sultana trip and going also. I learned that life on the Sultana was rough. People would have to eat hard tack which is dry hard bread. They also ate dry, salted meat. The Sultana was a boat used for enforcing American taxes during the 1700s. Later it was sold for 85 British pounds in England. There is no information to be found after that. In the year 2001, a few people decided to build a replica of that old ship we went on. Thanks very much.
